A Fond Farewell

Lion City CrewThis past Sunday proved to be bittersweet as we worshiped alongside our Lee Heights Baptist Church family one last time.

I was blessed with the opportunity to preach from Philippians 1:1-18 to share our gratitude for the abundant love and powerful grace that God has shown to us through them over the last five years.

My greatest joy, however, came from spending the morning with our Lion City life group. Paul expressed our sentiment toward these young men and women in 1 Thessalonians 2:20:

For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you?  For you are our glory and joy.

Playing a small role in the spiritual growth of these young men and women has been a tremendous source of joy. While many lament the loss of the millennial generation we have been encouraged to watch this group grow deeper in the gospel and in their influence among their peers.

This is one of the most difficult yet exciting parts of moving to the West Bank of New Orleans to plant a church. Leaving those behind you have invested so much time and prayer into only to start all over in a new city will be a challenge.

Yet we are reminded that God has invited us to join Him in the work He is already doing in the lives of lost, hurting, and broken people in Marrero. Over the coming months and years our prayer is to be a part of a powerful gospel awakening in the greater New Orleans area that will result in many more growing in Christ like those we leave behind in Florence.

We are moving in just four days. Continue to pray for our family especially this week as we head to the Big Easy and begin from day one being salt and light to our neighborhood. Pray as well for your involvement in helping us from the ground floor as you pray, provide, and participate in reaching this community with the gospel.

If you have any questions or would like more information on what God is doing in the Marrero community of greater New Orleans send us an email. Thank you again for all of your fervent prayer and support!
